While data from these fields often share common characteristics, they also present unique complexities that require specialized and innovative analytical approaches. This conference will provide an opportunity for the exchange of ideas and experiences, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and encouraging the development of advanced statistical and computational methodologies.
Particular emphasis will be placed on leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) to address increasingly complex real-world challenges in healthcare and related domains.
Medical Statistics focuses on the systematic collection, management, and analysis of data to derive valid, reliable, and meaningful conclusions for informed decision-making. Recent advancements in Artificial Intelligence and machine learning have further transformed the landscape of biostatistical research, enabling the analysis of complex datasets and offering solutions to problems that were previously difficult to address using conventional methods.
The INDIAN SOCIETY FOR MEDICAL STATISTICS (ISMS), established in 1983 is a society, registered under Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860. It is a scientific body consisting of biostatisticians, medical teachers, researchers, demographers and scientists from other related disciplines. This Society of scientists working in medical field is the only Society of its kind in the South East Asia region.
The Society provides a common platform to medical researchers, statisticians and computer specialists working in medical institutions to interact and benefit mutually towards development and application of biostatistical techniques.
Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), established in 1983 under an Act of the Uttar Pradesh State Legislature, is a premier center of excellence in medical education, research, and patient care.
The Institute is situated on a sprawling 550-acre green campus on Raebareli Road, approximately 15 km from the heart of Lucknow, the capital city of Uttar Pradesh, located about 500 km east of New Delhi.
SGPGIMS offers advanced postgraduate and postdoctoral training across a wide range of medical and allied disciplines. Academic programs include DM, MCh, MD, MS, and PhD, along with Postdoctoral Fellowship (PDF), Postdoctoral Certificate Course (PDCC), and Postdoctoral Advanced Fellowship (PDAF).
The Institute additionally offers undergraduate and postgraduate academic programmes, namely the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) and Master of Science (M.Sc.), in various disciplines of Medical Technology through its College of Medical Technology, and in Nursing through its College of Nursing.
The Department of Biostatistics and Health Informatics (BHI) at SGPGIMS was established in 1990 as the Department of Biostatistics. In 2010, with the addition of the Hospital Information System (HIS) responsibilities, it was renamed to reflect its expanded role in health informatics.

BHI conducts foundational courses in biostatistics and computer applications for DM, MCh, MD, MS, and PhD students. SGPGIMS is among the first medical institutions in India to implement a fully integrated Hospital Information System (HIS), enabling efficient management of all patient care activities.
